A mentor is an experienced project contributor who scopes a mentee's work, reviews what they submit, and reviews applicants for the term. The Program Admin makes the final decision on each application.
What you can do
- Create a mentor profile and ask to mentor a program
- Accept or decline an invitation from a Program Admin
- Review applications, set and review tasks, and leave notes on a mentee
- Browse the public mentor directory and read mentor profiles
How you join a program
Two routes, and both end with the Program Admin:
| Way in | How it starts |
|---|---|
| Invitation | A Program Admin invites you by email. The link takes you to LFX, the Linux Foundation's software platform, where you accept or decline. |
| Request | You ask to mentor a program from Mentor Profile → Edit Mentor Profile → Select LFX Mentorship in LFX. The Program Admin approves or declines the request. |
Where things happen
Browsing the mentor directory happens here. Your profile, your programs and your reviews happen in LFX at app.lfx.dev/mentorship/mentor.
