Mentees FAQ

Common questions about mentee applications, withdrawals, tasks and graduation.

How many programs can I apply to at once?

You can have up to three applications open at a time. Withdrawing an application frees a slot straight away.

Can I apply to the same program twice?

You can apply to a program again in a later term. You cannot have two open applications to the same term.

How do I withdraw an application?

In LFX, the Linux Foundation's software platform, open your mentee overview at app.lfx.dev/mentorship/mentee and withdraw from the application. Withdrawing frees one of your three slots.

My application says "declined" — can I reapply?

Yes, you can reapply — to a different program, or to a later term of the same program. Declined is the status for any application that is not taken on; it is not a ban.

Where are my tasks?

Under My Tasks in LFX at app.lfx.dev/mentorship/mentee. Tasks set before you are accepted are part of your application; tasks set after you are accepted are the term's work.

Can I do a second mentorship?

You can take part in only one LFX Mentorship program in your career.

When do I get paid?

Where a program is funded, the stipend is paid in milestone installments across the term, and the final installment follows the final evaluation. Amounts vary by program and by your country of residence.

Why is my profile not in the mentee directory?

The directory lists mentees who have joined a program. Creating a profile alone does not list you.
